Who is PinkHamster?

Hi! Perhaps you have already met me on ChessKid.com. Perhaps not. My name is David Petty, but here on ChessKid, everybody just calls me the PinkHamster. I am a chess enthusiast, and experienced scholastic chess coach. Read about me on the video author page!

On the Show:

Below are some of the topics and activities regularly covered on the show.

Chess Story Time:
worm wearing glasses sits on a bookPeople have written entire books about funny chess events which really did (and sometimes didn't really) happen. I'll share some of my favorite stories, true and otherwise, but always fun!

Chess History Lesson:
A world globe, and some textbooksThe PinkHamster delves into the rich and interesting history of the chess: how the rules of the game have evolved over the centuries, famous players, incredible matches, etc.

PinkHamster Chess Workout:
A hamster lifts some weightsThe PinkHamster sets a good example by doing his master-level tactics! These puzzles are really hard, but I'll guide you in my thought process every step of the way.

ChessKid Puzzle Workout:
A ChessKid lifts some really heavy weightsWe've all got to workout to keep our chess muscles strong! The PinkHamster feeds the audience puzzles of varying difficulties from the Tactics Trainer, and goes over the thought process required to tackle these brain-teasers!

Your Games Analyzed:
Two chesskids face off! Each week the PinkHamster will select one game played by a ChessKid, and review it. Emphasis will be both on what the players did well, and also how they could improve in future games!

Battle the Hamster:
Hamster Holding a lightsaberAt the end of every episode, the PinkHamster logs into ChessKid.com's Blitz chess and takes on all comers in a no-holds-barred speed chess match, giving live commentary as he goes. Will you be the first kid to defeat the Hamster?

and much, much more...

How can I contribute?
If you have a chess game you'd the PinkHamster me to go over on his show, a great story you'd like to share, or an amazing chess variant that you think everyone should try out, send a private message to the PinkHamster on ChessKid.com. Your game or idea just might make it onto the show!
