Carissa Yip Wins 2021 US Women's Championship!

IM Carissa Yip, a former ChessKid, has won the 2021 US Women's Championship in St. Louis, Missouri with a blistering score of 8.5/11! Known for her aggressive attacking chess, the 18 year old adds to her many records with this huge win. For her efforts the highest-rated U-20 woman player in the world will take home $25,000.

Here's the final standings. She actually had the tournament won with one round to spare.

Not only did Carissa cruise to first place but she defeated four former US Women's Champions in the tournament, the first to accomplish this feat! This included wins over Sabina Foisor, Nazi Paikidze, Irina Krush, and Anna Zatonskih. Collectively that group has 15 titles amongst them.
