ChessKid Joins Chess Fans for London’s Biggest Chess Festival!

On Sunday July 17, ChessKid joined the masses of chess fans in London for the UK’s biggest chess festival, ChessFest. Organized by Chess In Schools and Communities, the event saw thousands descend on Trafalgar Square for live performances, booths and chess-related activities.

We met many of you at the ChessKid booth, where kids enjoyed features on our app and even played live games of chess against WIM Ivette Garcia Morales! The Lord Mayor of Westminster also showed a keen interest in ChessKid and what we are doing to encourage more children to enjoy the game.

Our team was also joined by popular chess streamer Lularobs, who livestreamed a chess match with the Director of ChessKid Español, Ivette.

For the second year, a live chess performance took place in the heart of the square, re-enacting Garry Kasparov’s win over his computer nemesis, Deep Blue!
