ChessKid Fast Chess Contest!

UPDATE - The contest is now over! We will be posting the winners shortly and we will be repeating a similar contest in the fall!

The battle for Fast chess supremacy will take place in April right here on ChessKid.com! We're announcing the first-ever Fast (Live) Chess competition, and we're calling it "King of Fast Chess." Read below to see how you could win money for chess lessons and be featured on ChessKid TV!

The contest will take place between the ChessKid who WINS the most games in April against the ChessKid who PLAYS the most games in April.

It will begin at 12:00 a.m. Pacific (Los Angeles time) on April 1, 2014 and end at 12:00 a.m. Pacific May 1, 2014.

This is not an April Fool's joke!

To enter the contest, join the King of Fast Chess Contest Club - that way, we will be able to track who is winning via the leaderboard (at the end of the month, we will click on "monthly" stats to see who the winners are).

The two winners will then compete against each other in a three-game match at a later date. The games will be featured on ChessKid TV with live commentary from FunMasterMike and special guests! The winner will be the first King of Fast Chess!

The winner gets $100 to be used for chess lessons and the loser gets $50 for chess lessons. Both players will also get gold memberships for their school chess club for six months!

Here are some additional rules (remember to join the King of Fast Chess Contest Club):

• Most wins in April gets one of the invitations to play in the match.
• Minimum 25 games played.
• No wins under 10 moves will count.

 

• Most games played in April will get the other invite.
• Minimum 40 games played.
• No games (wins, losses or draws) under 10 moves will count.
• Games should be played reasonably to the fullest (do not ask your friend to resign on move 10 every game).
• If the same kid has the most wins and the most games played, then his opponent will be the kid with the second-most wins.

 

For all competitors:

• To be eligible, ChessKids cannot play more than 10 games against other ChessKids under the same guardian (so you should usually not be making direct challenges - instead click the orange "new game" button to seek a game).
• To clarify, though you can play more than 10 games against your friends under the same Guardian as your parent or coach, no more than 10 of those games will be counted to your total wins or games played.
• You may not play under more than one account in order to play yourself.
• You must play on your own account (do not have two ChessKids use the same account).
• Slow chess games do not count - this is only for Fast chess.
• Adult accounts are not eligible.
• ChessKid reserves the right to disqualify any account that we feel has competed in an unsportsmanly fashion or committed any unethical (ask your parent what that means ) violations.
• Any cheating will lead to disqualification and account closure.

In short, we want everyone to be competing honestly and for everyone to be given a fair chance to qualify for the final match and prizes!
