ChessKid Site Updates

If you're a parent, teacher or coach on ChessKid.com, you've probably noticed some differences recently in the way the site looks.

We don't want you to miss out on any of the new features, so here's an overview of a few things that have changed:

The New Home Page

The Home Page for Parents & Teachers got a facelift!

We've placed buttons to some of the most common places on the site front & center. Depending on how many students you have and whether you're a member of any Clubs, you now have quick access to your Kids, Clubs, Messages & What's New - right at the top of your Home Page.

The key to improvement in chess is practice, so we want to encourage Kids to play & learn! We've included a new Activity Summary on the Home Page. Now you can tell at a glance whether your Kids are active on the site.

It shows:

• Kids Played: How many of your Kids played any type of game in the past 30 days
• Puzzles: How many puzzles your Kids collectively attempted in the past 30 days
• Stars: How many activity stars your Kids earned in the past 30 days
• Games: How many games (of any kind, Fast, Slow or 960) your Kids played in the past 30 days
• Lessons: How many lessons your Kids completed in the past 30 days
• Online Today: How many of your Kids logged into the site in the past day

You can also view the activity of just one group, using the drop-down in the upper right. Select all your Kids, or just one club:

You can quickly see how many of your Kids are working through their Levels on the right side of the Home Page:

New Navigational Menus

Your Avatar & Level now show on all the pages of the site. This compact Avatar Menu in the upper right of your screen is designed to give you quick access to tools you use a lot. 

It includes:

• Your Avatar & Username
• Messages 
• Kids 
• Settings 
• Logout
• (For Kids, it also includes their Report Card & Awards.)

The "Library" is now the "Learn" Page

We've combined some of the resources on the main left side menu. Don't worry, everything's still there (we've even added a cool, new training game!)

New Kids Page

We've streamlined the look of your Kids Page, but no worries! All of the old tools are still there:

• You now have activity indicators shown for each of your Kids!
• Each Kid account shows a Fast Chess rating, Slow Chess rating & Puzzles rating - as well as Stars earned and Lessons completed during the past 30 days.
• You can also see what Level each Kid is on, along with a progress bar showing how close they are to achieving the next Level.
• And you can see how long ago each Kid logged in to his/her account.

• Your Guardian tools are now located in the drop-down menu in the upper right for each Kid.
• This is where you can find the Edit Kid tool, individual Report Card, Game History & Impersonate tool.

• You can still enable/disable the Gold Membership with one click for individual students from your "Kids" page. The membership icon is now to the left of the Kid's Username.
