ChessKid Youtube Contest Winners!

The first ChessKid Youtube Contest concluded earlier this month. The votes are tallied, the views are counted, and now it's time to give out some cash and prizes!

The contest rules stipulated three winners: most views, most likes and a ChessKid.com staff pick. Each winning entry gets $200 cash and one year of gold memberships (up to 50) for their school chess club.

One video had the most views and the most likes, so clearly it wrapped up an award! "The Checkmate Kid" had 631 views and 82 likes as of April 1, both tops of all the entries.

With one video winning in two categories, we decided to award two judges picks instead of one. We wanted to make sure we gave away all three prizes!

The first ChessKid.com staff pick was "Lego ChessKid". The voiceover guy sounded like a true professional, and then we read the description below the video - he was! This was within contest rules since ChessKids did the other work on the video. Watch and you'll think you're hearing a trailer for a movie!

Our second staff pick was this quirky video sent in by two brothers. In "How I Became Good at Chess" the creators scripted a common scenario - your younger sibling beating you at chess. We loved their excitement and their awkward dancing!

Thank you to all of those who participated. Enjoy those gold memberships and look for our contest again next year!
