Close Calls For FunMasterMike!

ChessKiddos! Play the Masters, our occasional Friday night event where you get to challenge FunMasterMike and PoppaBear, produced some really tight games for me this past week!

We're usually online about 5-7 pm Eastern (when we are in town!). All you have to to is send FunMasterMike or PoppaBear a friend request (we can see your friend requests since we are staff ). We will accept it and then when you go into Fast Chess, you can see when we are online by clicking on the "friends" tab.

Fridays not good? That's OK - Chesscampeona is available to be challenged on Thursday nights from 6-8 pm Eastern!

Look how close these two ChessKids came to making a draw, or even beating me - I had to use my super-secret master tactics to finally overcome their strong play!

I couldn't figure out how to break through, but I eventually found a queen sacrifice that worked:

In this game, the position got really close to being completely closed. I'm not sure if my sacrifice on d5 was perfectly sound, but it is always easier to be the attacker than the defender. I liked the finishing tactic:
