Congratulations to the Youngest Grandmaster in History, Abhimanyu Mishra

History has been made! ChessKid would like to wish a big time congratulations to the youngest grandmaster in the history of chess, Abhimanyu Mishra, who just set the all-time record!

To help you better understand his accomplishment, here's how you become a grandmaster:

      1. Have a rating above 2500 FIDE (international rating).

      2. Earn three grandmaster "norms" -- these are three highly-successful single events.

At 12 years, 4 months, and 25 days he achieved his third grandmaster norm and crossed the rating threshold of 2500 FIDE in the same tournament in June 2021! The previous record of 12 years and 7 months was held by the 2016 world chess champion challenger GM Sergey Karjakin

This historic achievement only adds to GM Mishra's previous accomplishments of becoming the youngest:

He is also a former 2016 CONIC Champion!

The final game that made Abhimanyu Mishra a grandmaster!

We are very excited to see what GM Abhimanyu Mishra accomplishes next. Be sure to check out the ChessKid YouTube to see a game that I had the pleasure of watching GM Mishra play before he was a grandmaster!

Do you want to become a grandmaster one day? Becoming a grandmaster takes a lot of work! Make sure you're putting in the required work by doing at least 100 puzzles a week!
