Even More State Championship Tips!

In the last article "Top 3 State Championship Tips," we looked at how to think before and during the tournament. This article will focus on how to use Chesskid.com when getting your players ready!

1. Puzzles! -- This is the most important area that ALL students should cover leading up to their state champs. Chesskid's puzzles is a great way to track the progress of all your students, and also see where they are struggling. Make sure to emphasize accuracy vs. how many problems attempted! Accuracy is WAY more important!

2. Computer Workouts! -- This Chesskid feature is great to help students learn how to finish the game. You can make sure your players know all the basic checkmates, as well as some basic endgame knowledge! This will help them feel confident when bringing home the full point!

3. Play Practice Games! -- All work and no play is NO FUN! Encourage your students to use all of the play games features on Chesskid. One great way is to have a designated night that the team logs into the "Fast Chess" arena to play against each other. Or, host a live tournament, ChessKid's newest feature! Coaches can review these games between their classes and point out the good and the bad to help their players improve!

Best of luck to all the schools, teams, and players in all of your future tournaments!
