FunMasterMike Show Helps Chess in Slums!

Update: We did it! Thank you to the ChessKid family for coming out today (virtually) to support this important cause. We are so grateful to you for helping Tunde and Chess in Slums reach their $20,000 goal. This funding will go towards resources, scholarships, food, and support for children in need. They are one step closer to achieving their dreams through the power of chess.

The ChessKid and Chess in Slums partnership continues this Monday at 8:30am Pacific/11:30am Eastern/4:30pm UK/5:30pm CET with FunMasterMike on Chess.com/TV! And this time, we need your help.

Here at ChessKid, we are dedicated to the mission of using chess as a force for social good. You might remember that we partnered the non-profit Chess in Slums last year. Chess in Slums is a program that teaches chess to children in Nigeria who don't have access to education. The goals are mentorship, community, and giving them an academic advantage.

In the past year, we've seen many successes for CIS. The kids went toe-to-toe with a university team -- and tied! They also partnered with our parent company, Chess.com. Most recently, we've launched a GoFundMe to bring scholarship money and resources to the organization. After a recent Chess.com stream with GM Simon Williams, we're almost all the way there!

Now, FunMasterMike is jumping in to help! You know all about our "Beat FunMasterMike" episodes: ChessKid challengers step up to the plate and try to beat the FunMaster.

Monday's episode will be a little different. We'll be fundraising to help CIS founder Tunde Onakoya reach his $20,000 goal. He's almost there and we want to put him over the top by the end of the show!

We will be posting the link to donate in the chat during the show, and we hope to have a big celebration if the goal is reached in the middle of the show.

If you're looking to keep up with Tunde, Chess in Slums, and ChessKid's progress, you can listen to his recent guest appearance on the Perpetual Chess Podcast with host Ben Johnson. Tunde lists ChessKid as "the best training resource in the world" for children trying to learn chess.

We look forward to what the future holds with you, Tunde, and with Chess in Slums!
