Help 4 ChessKid Stars On Their Road to IM!

For years four young stars have helped ChessKids all over the world improve. With talent, humor, and excitement, WIM Alice Lee, CM Brewington Hardaway, FM Tani Adewumi, and FM Ryo Chen have been excellent role models for aspiring chess players.

And now we get to help them!

All four of these pre-teen prodigies are playing in an "IM norm" tournament from March 16-20, hosted by the Charlotte Chess Center. IM is the last stop before grandmaster, and you need three "norms" (good performances in these invitational tournaments) to get the title. In fact Ryo just earned his first norm recently while Tani and Brewington finished with good scores in their first norm tournaments.

For these invitational events, aspiring players pay a very large entry fee, in this case $850 each, and this allows the organizer to attract the veteran players that are needed for the IM norm requirements. ChessKid wants to raise enough money to pay for the entry fees for all four stars!

So while our goal is $3400, it would be great to raise even more to help with hotels, flight costs, and other expenses as well. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to the families.

You can give now at this GoFundMe page that I've created.

If you've enjoyed watching Ryo win the first two ChessKid Youth Speed Chess Championships, or you've played Brewington in his weekly beat the master session in live chess, or you've been inspired by Tani's immigrant success story, or you want your daughter to be as strong and confident as three-time world champion Alice, we hope you can give a small amount to help these families and help foster the future of American chess.

Also, stay tuned for a special ChessKid TV show with FunMasterMike and all four of these stars on Monday, February 28, from 4-6pm Eastern (1-3pm Pacific) on twitch.tv/chesskid!

Thanks for your help, and please feel free to share either this article or the GoFundMe link.
