In Honor of Judit Polgar: Polgar Sisters' Mates

Welcome Judit Polgar, my hero!  Have you seen her new chess app?  Today we are going to look at some of her checkmates and her sisters' checkmates, too!  Are your sisters Grandmasters?  We'll start with some easy mate-in-ones.  The Polgars have white in these puzzles.  By, Mrs Jessica E Prescott, aka BoundingOwl.

1.  Susan Polgar, eldest sister (on the right in the photo above), a GM who strongly encourages girls to play in more events.

2.  Judit Polgar, youngest sister, broke Bobby Fischer's record at the time, youngest GM in the world when she was 15 years old!  Now, Judit is the strongest woman in the world and among the top men as well.

3.  Sophia Polgar, middle sister, WGM, also a chess prodigy but not as active a player anymore.

Here are the girls studying chess together.  How often do you study?

4.  Judit with white again.

5.  Judit has white and wins by first decoying the king to g7.  (Hint, sac your queen!!)  Then she uses a blind swine checkmate to win.  What's stronger than one rook on the 7th?

Welcome to Chesskid, Ms Polgar!  You're awesome!! Smile
