INTERNATIONAL CHESSKID CUP ESPAÑOL

ChessKid is very happy to announce the first-ever Internacional ChessKid Cup Espanol! This exciting event will be open to any child from a Spanish-speaking country and will take place May 8, 2021.

It is open to any child age 12 or younger (age as of January 1, 2021), who both lives in and plays from of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries mentioned below. 

 Mexico.

 Colombia.

 Spain.

 Argentina.

 Venezuela.

 Peru.

 Chile.

 Guatemala.

 Ecuador.

 Cuba.

 Bolivia.

 Dominican Republic.

 Honduras.

 El Salvador.

 Paraguay.

 Nicaragua.

 Costa Rica.

 Puerto Rico.

 Panama.

 Uruguay.

 Equatorial Guinea.

 Andorra. 

If you were you currently reside in any of the above countries and will also play from there, then you can play in this exclusive event for Spanish speakers!

This will be the largest Spanish ChessKid event in history, where more than 500 children are expected to compete. In addition, all those registering before the "early deadline" get an invitation to a training camp with legendary Spanish Super-GM Paco Vallejo!

The event will take place on the world's #1 children's chess platform, ChessKid, with fantastic prizes, including group lessons with the best Spanish-speaking players (ChessKid reserves the right to change masters based on time zones and other factors).

- Sections: 

ChessKid reserves the right to request proof of age when qualifying for any award.

It will not be possible to change the category once registered.

- Date and time:

a) Training Tournament, which will take place on May 1, 2021, at 11:00 m GMT-6. This is 9am Pacific U.S./12pm Eastern U.S./6pm Spain.

This tournament will be practice one week prior to the official tournament "INTERNATIONAL CHESSKID SPANISH CUP." Those who register after April 26, 2021, will not be able to play this training tournament.

The training tournament will not have prizes but is highly encouraged to get used to live tournaments on ChessKid and also to test your computer and internet.

b) The main event, the "INTERNATIONAL CHESSKID SPANISH CUP", will take place on May 8, 2021, at 11:00am GMT-6. This is 9am Pacific U.S./12pm Eastern U.S./6pm Spain.

- Rounds and control time:

The time control will be 10+2 (10 minutes of start time plus 2 seconds added per move). Each of the sections will be 7 rounds. 

The expected duration of the tournament is about three hours.

There will be no delay between rounds or fixed round times. Once the final game in each section is finished, the next round will begin.

- Zoom before tournament:

Before the aforementioned events, we will have a meeting via zoom one day before, to show how the player will join the tournament and tips to play an ONLINE tournament.

a) Zoom before the Training Tournament (May 1, 2021). The zoom meeting will be on April 30, 2021, at 16:00 GMT-6. This is 9am Pacific U.S./12pm Eastern U.S./6pm Spain.

b) Zoom before the "INTERNATIONAL SPANISH CHESSKID CUP" (May 8, 2021). The zoom meeting will be on May 7, 2021, at 16:00 GMT-6. This is 9am Pacific U.S./12pm Eastern U.S./6pm Spain.

The zoom links will be sent along with the users who will be provided to play the tournament via email.

- Prizes:

The "INTERNATIONAL SPANISH CHESSKID CUP" will focus mainly on participation and fun, but who doesn't like prizes?

The first 10 places in each category (9-12 years & Under 8 years old) will be awarded.

- GOLD account for one year (access to unlimited ChessKid content (prize value $49USD).

- "Training Camp" Saturday and Sunday (4 hours in total), with two international great masters, internationally recognized. TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON.

- Besides, all participants will obtain a personalized ChessKid diploma.

The official results of the tournament will be published on May 15 in this same way, since an anti-cheating checks will be carried out after the tournament with our fair play system. We will communicate directly with the winners via email that they provided in the entry form.

- "Training class”:

ALL PARTICIPANTS of the "INTERNATIONAL SPANISH CHESSKID CUP" will have the right to participate in the training class that will take place before the tournament. This camp will be run by GrandMaster Paco Vallejo. The duration of the class will be 1 hour and a half, the information to join the class will be sent via email.

- Registration:

o Registration will be done online at the following link:

o Payment is by credit, debit, or PayPal card in the previous link (We suggest you speak to the bank before making the payment and confirm that payment will be made to a foreign entity). If you have any problems, please send an email and they can help you with this process: [email protected]

o The "EARLY REGISTRATION" fee is $15USD if received before April 26, 2021, 11:59 pm GMT-6.

o Registration from April 27 to May 3, 2021, is $25USD.

o Registrations will not be accepted after May 3, 11:59 p.m. GMT-6.

o When registering, ChessKid will create a unique username to use for this event. This username will also get the two free months of UNLIMITED (gold) ChessKid membership.

o The username and password will be provided via email. If you registered before April 26, the username and password will be sent to you on April 29, so that you can play the training tournament on May 1. If you registered after April 26, the username and password will be sent to you on May 6, which is why you will not be able to play the training tournament.

- Live commentary: 

We will have live commentary live with GM Jorge Cori, WIM Gaby Vargas, WIM Ivette Garcia, and other famous chess commentators and guests.

- Fair play.  

ChessKid expects all children and their families to follow the rules of fair play. Both the child and parent/guardian must agree to our fair play policies when registering for the event.

This is what will be agreed upon when registering for the event:

 ChessKid will run this event with the highest level of integrity and ethics. All players must play fairly and act in a sporting spirit.

 We strictly prohibit all types of cheating. ChessKid will use its algorithms to monitor the games and will also manually analyze the selected games at its discretion.

 All your games must be played by yourself. You cannot get help from anyone, including coaches, friends, parents, chess analytics engines, or any other software of any kind.

 You should also not have a phone, tablet, or any other electronic device in the same room.

 You are only allowed to have one browser tab open and no other programs running on your computer. Violation of this rule is a “technical loss” and you will be disqualified, with no possibility of winning any prizes.

 You agree that ChessKid will make the final determination on any fair play issue in addition to making the final decision on player penalties, including game loss or expulsion.

 If you violate the ChessKid Fair Play Policy, ChessKid will close your account and tag you as a Fair Play Policy violator.

 If you are not willing to accept the above policies, you will not be allowed to play in the event.

The training tournament and the International Cup of ChessKid in Spanish will be watched at all times by our team of ChesKid in Spanish referees.
