This is a quick guide to a video series:
This is a short series of 4 tactics videos that builds some really cool tactics based on two simple patterns that are introduced first. This will not only teach the student some practical tactics, but also help them to see how the more difficult tactics in chess are built out of the blocks of the simple patterns. The first three videos are beginner-intermediate level, and the last is advanced. They only make sense if watched in order!

Tricky Tactics: The Pawn Escapes the Box 1: The problem of promoting pawns is expressed. The first tricky tactic is shown for how to queen despite the enemy king being within reach. And the student is left with a puzzle for the next time.
Tricky Tactics: The Pawn Escapes the Box 2: After answering the previous video's parting puzzle, the second pattern is shown. The student is also shown that if there are pieces on the board they can sometimes be sacrificed to start a pawn breakthrough.
Tricky Tactics: The Pawn Escapes the Box 3: The student continues to work on a couple trickier examples based on the patterns they have learned.
Tricky Tactics: The Pawn Escapes the Box 4: not yet published.
That's it!
