The Terrible Brawn of a Pawn at Dawn

Brains or Brawn? The Terrible Brawn of a Pawn at Dawn...by, Ms Jessica Era Martin (aka BoundingOwl)

Who knew pawns could create such havoc?  I mean, they basically drudge forward without really thinking.  They can't go backwards.  They are very closed minded.  And they don't even get a capital letter when you notate them.

But after a long night of marching, the pawn reaches enemy territory.  The pawn now starts poking spears at the king.  Waving his sword around.  Backing up the Queen.  Sometimes, he even makes a rush for the other side.  Sometimes he makes a touchdown.

Even if your pawn doesn't promote, it can still be a powerful ally.  Proudly pushing forward with the support of his lady.

And if the king tries to run...
Don't forget this pattern that we learned a while ago.  The pawn is sent as a giant decoy which can't be captured because of a pin.  Once the castle wall is broken the queen dives in.
So don't underestimate your little pawns.  Don't judge a pawn by its cover!
