What Is Your Child Doing This Summer?
Hello Chesskid Parents!
Yes, in many areas it is still freezing and snowing, but parents everywhere are already starting to make their summer plans. This also means that chess camps will be available and taking registrations in your communities!
Get your children signed up early to make sure that they can participate in the best chess camp for your family's schedule - Warning: chess camps fill up quickly!
Sign-up early to guarantee your spot!
Follow the 3 L's when thinking about signing up for a summer chess camp:
- Level - Take into account your child's current level when signing up for a chess camp. Many camps will advertise: Beginnner Chess Camp, Advanced Chess Camp, etc...Many will also give a rating level suggestion for each camp. If you are not sure which one to sign up for ask the school chess coach, private chess coach, or someone in the chess community.
- Learning - Ask around the chess community to see who has had a positive experience at a local camp. Did their child have a fun? Did they learn during the week of chess camp? What chess skills did they come away confidently knowing?
- Location - For working parents this one is important! Does the chess camp offer early drop off? Late pick-ups? This is why signing up early is so important - many families will pick a chess camp based on its proximity to their work.
Keep your child's chess interest over the summer months with a chess camp!
