2022 ChessKid YSCC First Round Results!

After a series of hard-fought matches, round one of the 2022 ChessKid Youth Speed Chess Championship is in the books! We're here to go over the results and share all the exciting action with you.

 In the first match, FM Yagiz Erdogmus showcased why he was the top-seeded player with an incredible 17.5-.5 performance against Polish star Filip Ochedzan.

In the second match, Hussain Besou faced some stiff competition against Jiri Bouska in the 5+1 portion of the match, but was able to maintain a two-point lead for the remainder of the match, ending with a score of 9.0-7.0. He'll face Yagiz in what is sure to be a thrilling semifinal encounter. 

 

The third match saw a fiercely fought showdown between Rosh Jain and Megan Paragua. While Rosh kept it close until the very end, Megan was able to best the second-seeded favorite with a final score of 8.0-5.0.

Close competition seemed to be the theme of the day, as our final match between CM Ilan Schnaider and returning star Fausti Oro ended tied at 6.5-6.5 after the allotted time. The match went into overtime with a final 3+1 match, which ended with Ilan pulling ahead for a 7.5-6.5 victory. Check out the tiebreaker match here:

With the quarterfinals in the rearview mirror, we're looking forward to an exciting semifinal round.

The first semifinal match will feature top-seeded FM Yagiz Erdogmus and Hussain Besou, while the second match will be between CM Ilan Schnaider playing against Megan Paragua.
