Moving into the finals, CM Aaron Mendes will take on Antoni Radzimski in what is sure to be the best match of the YSCC yet. Make sure to join us on twitch.tv/chesskid as FunMasterMike, IM David Pruess, and WFM Kinga Polak commentate on the exciting conclusion!

On August 1, the semifinals kicked off with top seed FM Fausti Oro facing off against CM Aaron Mendes. Both played fantastic chess but it was ultimately the Canadian player who triumphed with a 8.0-6.0 finish.

Things were even for the first six games, but the last game of the 5+1 section started an unfortunate three-loss streak which Fausti couldn't recover from. In fact, the black pieces were the most consistent "players" as they won the first seven games of the match.

The next semifinal match took place on August 8, and was a real nail biter. We had our first tiebreaker in YSCC history! Representing Poland, Antoni Radzimski overtook Megan Paragua in an incredibly hard-fought match.

While stumbling early by giving up a point to Megan through a blunder in the opening, Antoni was able to equalize and take the match to tiebreaks. Ultimately Antoni was able to win the first game of the tiebreak and with it the match, his only lead of the entire afternoon.

Join us on Sept 6th at 10am ET/4pm CET for the exciting final between CM Aaron Mendes and Antoni Radzimski!
