FunMasterMike Creates Passed Pawns!

Most chess tournaments are "open," meaning anyone can play. But have you ever been asked to play in an "invitational" tournament?

I have, on only a few occasions. A few of those times I was invited to the North Carolina Invitational, which means the top six players in the state, no matter their age.

In my first appearance, I was still in high school and I think I was more excited about the free hotel room!

This was my best game from that event. I always took great pride in my endgame ability, and this was one example of that. It shows how masters love to win a pawn, make a bunch of trades, and try to win in the endgame!

What did you think? Can you win a game with an extra pawn like FunMasterMike?

Remember the key idea at the end: creating a second "thing" for Black to worry about. This is the "Principle of Two Weaknesses" and you can see more about in this video!

See you next Wednesday for "FunMasterMike's Most Fun Moments!"
