Intercontinental ChessKid Candidates Semifinals!

The qualifiers are over, and we're excited to watch all three ChessKid Candidates semifinal events this weekend. Join IM Rakesh Kulkarni and WGM Keti Tsatsalashvili for the Candidates Asia/Oceania, IM David Pruess for the Candidates Americas, and WIM Jesse February for the Candidates Europe/Africa! All three events can be followed on twitch.tv/chesskid.

On May 21st and 22nd, ChessKids all over the world participated in the qualifiers for the Intercontinental ChessKid Candidates tournament. The event had three sections: an Americas Edition, a Europe/Africa Edition, and an Asia/Oceania edition.

The top four players from each qualifying event will now play in a semifinal match over the coming weekend and receive a free year of ChessKid Gold Membership!

Players in each semifinal will play a round-robin event with a time control of G10+2 (Ten minutes per player, with two seconds added on each move). All players will be required to join a Zoom room and play all games with their cameras on. All games will also be checked via ChessKid's Fair Play system.

The top two players from the semifinals will qualify for the Intercontinental ChessKid Candidates in Madrid, with ChessKid covering their accommodation expenses as well as a tutor. Two wildcard entries will also participate in the Madrid event: one player from the Madrid Chess Federation and one from ChessKid España. In total, we will have eight ChessKids playing in the same room, using the same chess boards that the GM Candidates will use in their event!
