About Jesse and Rebecca

Jesse is two-time South African women’s chess champion, and an experienced coach and Olympiad player. Rebecca is one of the top-rated South African female players, and is also a past Olympiad team member.

Jesse and Rebecca stream chess and variety content regularly on their Twitch channel, HashtagChess, which they started to bring awareness to African and South African chess. They both enjoy working with children, and they’re excited to play against ChessKids from all over the world during their new HashtagHype show!

ChessKid remains committed to helping children in Africa succeed. In addition to partnering with the Chess in Slums project in Nigeria, we are also working with the chess federations in Rwanda and Tanzania to help their youth. FunMasterMike also once brought a ChessKid booth to South Africa!
