Supratit Banerjee - Young Chess Prodigies

In this edition of ChessKid Spotlight, we'll introduce you to FM Supratit Banerjee, a young chess player on the rise!

Who is Supratit Banerjee?

Supratit was born on February 23rd, 2014 and has accomplished so much in chess even though he is only 12 years old! He is a young and super active rising chess star who plays exciting chess! According to the FIDE records, he has already played 86 classical games just in 2026!

Originally Supratit was representing Scotland, but after his family moved to London he know represents England and is an active member playing for the Kingston Chess Club. In 2025, at age 11, he came in 14th place at the British Championships scoring six out of nine points causing much interest in his chess.  He came just one point behind the winner Grandmaster Michael Adams. In this same event he defeated two grandmasters, and drew another. 

Fun fact: one year later, FIDE Master Bodhana Sivanandan won the women’s title at this same tournament at just 11 years old! 

He also loves to play online chess and competes in the famous Titled Tuesday on Chess.com with some of the strongest players in the world!
