ChessKid European Team Festival Continues: Meet the Nordic Region!
The next division of the ChessKid European Team Festival is coming! The Region 8 match will take place on Saturday, September 24 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 3 p.m. CET!
On September 24 at 6 a.m. PT / 3 p.m. CET, join us to watch ChessKids from Region 8 (Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark) battle it out on the board! The European Team Festival consists of tournaments across different regions, featuring a series of matches between ChessKids from different European countries.

During the 8th region of the ChessKid European Team Festival, the four countries will face off in two stages. Each country will field a team of four players from four different age groups (U8, U10, U12, and U14) and will be represented by two boys and two girls.
All four countries will play in a qualifier round to see who moves forward to the final. The match will consist of two games for each player (one with white and one with black pieces). All games will be 10 minutes long, with a 5-second increment.
Winners from the festival will receive free ChessKid Gold memberships for one year, and will go on to have the chance to compete against the top team from other regional festival matches later this year. All participants will receive three-month ChessKid Gold memberships.
Here are the pairings:
- 6am PT / 9am ET / 3 pm CET: Sweden vs. Denmark
- 7am PT / 10am ET / 4pm CET: Norway vs. Iceland
- 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET: Finals between the winners of the first two matches
