Streamers Even Up With Win Over ChessKid Stars

On May 14, the Streamers struck back! In a rematch between the ChessKid Stars and Streamers, the adults were able to even things up by winning 20-12 against their young opponents. This ties the series at 1-1!

GM Jesse Kraai returned to cover all of the round two action and was joined by FM James Canty III, who took a break from facing the kids to help commentate the match. In addition, all four streamers hosted their own streams throughout the match.

Early on, the teams were fairly evenly matched, and the Streamers jumped ahead to a slight lead of 5 points to the ChessKid Stars' 3 points. WFM Anna Cramling got an early win in the event over Megan Paragua, who you can also catch competing this summer in the Youth Speed Chess Championship, but Megan struck back quickly with her own win in the rematch.

Despite trailing by a slight margin, the ChessKid Stars kept things tight in the second set of matches. While IM Levy Rozman joined IM Eric Rosen in going undefeated in the second set, FM Tani Adewumi and FM Alice Lee went 2-0 themselves. Tani and Alice would eventually gain 4 points a piece for their teams. Levy went on to a 6-point finish, having only dropped one game a piece to FM Brewington Hardaway and FM Alice Lee.

After a rocky start, GM Arturs Neiksans came roaring back in the final sets. He started by going undefeated against FM Brewington Hardaway in the third round, beginning with a long 112-move game. He continued to keep up the pressure and won out for the remainder of the event, earning a total score of 5 points.

However, looking to make up for his team's loss in the first match up against the ChessKid StarsIM Eric Rosen had a dominant performance. While only scoring 4.5 points in the first match-up, he came back with a vengeance going undefeated this time around! Buoyed by his undefeated run, the Streamers finished out the match 20-12 against the ChessKid Stars.

This impressive display means that the ChessKid Stars and the Streamers have both won one event each... stay tuned for the third edition of this fun series!
